In our personal lives as well as on a global scale, everyone always says, “Follow your dreams!” what is your dream? What problem are you solving in life? What is your passion? You have, like no other person on this planet, certain contributions that you are to make to this generation.
But not everyone does it. Life interjects, bills pile up and sometimes we have to do jobs we don’t want to do just to make it through the day, we also face challenges that test our emotional mettle:
My sincere resolution, when you are going after your dreams, you’re trying something totally wild. Of course you’re going to feel like a fish out of water every now and then. Don’t flop around and freak out—just keep on swimming, like this overly extended metaphor is.
We all tell ourselves stories about who we are, how the world works and what people are like. More often than not, as a result of the negativity bias at play, those stories are dis-empowering. Even when the economy is bad, many people are still making money. So you can choose to believe the story that the economy is bad, or you can write a new story that the world is ripe for the picking. If we are going to tell stories, A change in perspective can make all the difference.
